JOB SUMMARY:

The Communications Manager is responsible for implementing the internal communications strategy and enhancing external brand presence through public relations events and advertisements for Mason Companies, Inc. This person will be charged with developing and delivering progressive and robust content via multiple channels, both internally and externally.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONBILITIES:

The below listed responsibilities are not intended to be an exhaustive list; additional duties may be performed upon request.

  • Develop internal communications content messaging and positioning strategy that aligns business goals and clearly articulates objectives to employees.
  • Work with CEO to produce internal videos and companywide communications; track results and create additional education and/or participation and engagement plan accordingly. 
  • Partner with internal leaders to ensure the Intranet is designed effectively and contains appropriate content to drive knowledge, education, and engagement.
  • Monitor, analyze and report Intranet usage; recommend ways to increase effectiveness.
  • Partner cross functionally with department leaders to learn of activities and projects, determine effective communication channels to drive employee awareness and contribute story ideas.
  • Assist executive leadership team with developing and implementing communications and support corporate wide meeting management.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources staff to effectively communicate and deliver annual employee survey, support communication efforts regarding results and action plans.
  • Participate in committees to communicate and execute employee events, volunteer opportunities, corporate initiatives, and support reward and recognition programs.
  • Partner with marketing to ensure advertising effectively promotes Mason’s brand and values.
  • Support Mason staffing efforts by assisting with the creation and placement of recruitment related communications.
  • Manage vendor relationships and produce advertisements and content across multiple channels, to include social media, print, online, banners, television, and radio.

SECONDARY DUTIES:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with local and regional media, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to support Mason’s brand.
  • Craft clear and concise press releases, coordinate interviews, prepare talking points and provide basic media coaching.
  • Respond to media requests for information or photography in a timely fashion.
  • Research and coordinate external speaking opportunities for Mason leadership and staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date media lists and contacts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated successful collaboration, coordination, and project management skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to varied audiences.
  • Strong digital aptitude, with experience developing content and managing social media, Intranet, and web content.
  • Ability to build and sustain strong working relationships internally and externally.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications or related major required.
  • 5 or more years of content development experience for both internal and external audiences.
  • Proven experience managing and monitoring multiple communications platforms simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience managing company Intranet, SharePoint platform preferred.
  • Photography and/or graphic design experience highly desired.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is generally sedentary, with no specific need for physical coordination or effort.  The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. 

May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Minimal travel may be required.
