Friendship is looking for a Full Time Wound Nurse, RN to join our Richfield Health Center team located in Salem, VA. The Wound Nurse is to provide, coordinate, and support clinical aspects of care for patients with wound nurse care needs.  This role critically analyzes the effectiveness of patient care systems and participates in interdisciplinary action to maximize the quality, cost and effectiveness of patient care.  The wound nurse serves as an expert WOC clinical resource on 24/7 basis.

Full-Time Nurse Sign On Bonus - Upon hire you are eligible for $10k paid out in equal installments beginning our your first paycheck continuing every paycheck until you have reached 18 months of employment. 

Qualifications:

  • Unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state, required
  • BLS required/ACLS preferred
  • ASN/BSN preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in a long-term care facility preferred but not required

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to assess patient needs for nursing care, patient and family education, and other services.
  • Acts as a specialty consultant to physicians, nurses, physical therapist, and patients.
  • Educates patients and families regarding WOC care in order to facilitate recovery.
  • Promotes and practices patient/family advocacy and facilitates the maintenance of ethical practice.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the purchase of Wound care patient care products and equipment.
  • Remains current regarding professional practice standards, research studies and theories to improve care and applies same as appropriate to management of patient care.
  • Provide for and coordinate staff development programs based on Federal and Federal regulations
  • Anticipates changes in nursing practice and develops programs with staff to meet these challenges.
  • Serves as a practice role model in areas of expertise.
  • Maintains and develops own skills in areas of expertise.
  • Demonstrates a high level of initiative in recognizing and resolving clinical problems.
  • Demonstrates appropriate level of initiative and leadership in assuring WOC care is consistent with national standards and current research.
  • Adheres to internal controls.
  • Chart reviews for low risk residents who have developed pressure ulcers
  • Weekly TAR Audits for completion of weekly wound measurements and Txs are changed in 21 days if wound is not improving.
  • On call is required
