We have a hugely exciting opportunity for a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager to join our DO&CO Family in New York.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensures that the unit meets the company’s, industries and regulatory standards for food safety and product integrity at all times.
  • Ensures compliance with food safety, cleanliness, and plant condition standards.
  • Leads and directs audits, inspections, and consultations to ensure understanding and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Ensures all applicable paperwork is accurate and up to date.
  • Monitors all integrated programs to assure that quality and regulatory compliance standards are met for food, beverage, ingredients, merchandise, and supply items manufactured, distributed and sold by the company.
  • Assesses suppliers to ensure the mentioned above is never jeopardized and work closely with department managers to ensure effective implementation of new products or new practices.
  • Regularly completes supplier audits and ensures all SOPs are drafted accurately and being utilized.
  • Oversees complaint investigations and ensures corrective action is being reported and followed up on.
  • Guarantees that the unit meets the company’s, industries, and regulatory standards for sanitation.
  • Ensures that the unit is up to standards for audits, pest control, external cleaning, and health department inspections.
  • Works closely with the vendor(s) to order and maintain food grade chemicals within the facility and keeps appropriate par levels of these items.
  • Ensures SDS are in place for all chemicals and all necessary PPE are in stock.
  • Monitors hygiene training and development and provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to staff in the form of new hire orientation, retraining, annual retraining, etc.
  • Partners with supervisors and HR to implement corrective action as needed when hygiene protocols are not followed.
  • Oversee ongoing training for food safety, hygiene, and quality awareness.
  • Investigate accidents, prepare, and maintain required reports.
  • Provide new hire orientation outlining the company’s quality and hygiene standards.
  • Promote a proactive food safety culture!
  • Maintain, review and report quality performance.
  • Deep knowledge in HACCP, ISO, SQF and food safety systems
  • Food Safety Certification, state specific if applicable

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Deep knowledge in HACCP, ISO, SQF and food safety systems
  • Food Safety Certification, state specific if applicable
  • HACCP Certified
  • PCQI – (Preventative Control Qualified Individual)
  • Proactive and self-organized
  • Ability to manage through a substantial workload.
  • Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks within the given time in order to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility (different shifts - night, weekends, holidays)
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of Hygiene, Quality Assurance experience preferably in a food manufacturing site
  • Bachelor´s Degree in any related subject desired.
