Content Writer/Journalist
We are seeking a skilled freelance Content Writer/Journalist to create highly-topical thought leadership blog posts, articles, and op-eds that address the latest news and trends on the job market, hiring, careers, and leadership in the marketing and creative space. You will be responsible for doing research, working with subject matter experts within the company, and ghostwriting and/or copyediting timely, high-quality content that gets our brand into the conversation on our blog, in social feeds, and in the media.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and keep a pulse on trends, themes, news, and social conversations to inspire and develop content ideas
- Interview subject matter experts and workshop their ideas to shape thought leadership content collaboratively; ghostwrite pieces that are engaging, unique, and thought-provoking
- Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity; adhere to content style guidelines and ensure consistency in tone and voice
- Collaborate with marketing and creative team members on SEO, creative assets, QA, content publishing, and analytics; collaborate with PR agency to secure media placements
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, TECHNOLOGIES
- Proven experience as a content writer developing thought leadership articles and/or opinion pieces for major media and business publications; has covered topics related to the world of knowledge work (recruiting/hiring, career development, the job market, leadership, remote work, DEI, etc.)
- Understanding of the marketing, creative, design space strongly preferred
- Strong research, interviewing, analytical, and storytelling skills
- Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to shape an interesting point of view or narrative for an article
- Experience partnering closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather insights, shape ideas, and develop content with the SME or ghostwritten on their behalf
- Familiarity with SEO and content optimization best practices
- Ability to follow existing content development and publishing process while recommending new ideas and best practices to improve workflows
- Ability to work efficiently and produce high-quality content to meet quick-turn deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on writing assignments as needed
