JOB SUMMARY

 

The Experienced Parent (EP) is a parent who has participated and had personal experience in an Early Intervention (EI) program with their own child who will be employed by Anne Carlsen during this time limited Statewide project in North Dakota.  The EP will connect with assigned parents to offer support while going through similar challenges to their own experiences.  They will have the opportunity to provide support through a variety of activities such as weekly phone calls, attendance at Individual Family Service Plan (ISFP) meetings, meetings with schools, home visits, family surveying and giving much need parent-to-parent connections. This program is a State sponsored short term project that Anne Carlsen has been accepted to participate in with the Early Intervention programs. (Time period – 8/1/2022 – 6/1/2023)

 

QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements)

 

Education and/or years’ experience required:

  • An Experienced Parent must have participated in an Early Intervention program with their own child or children.
  • Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, North Dakota Early Intervention systems, and regional policies and procedures
  •  

Preferred/Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy guidelines
  •  

Supervision of others/decision making aptitude (if applicable): This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITES

 

  • Ensure basic knowledge of available resources in assigned region
  • Provide education to EI families regarding community resources available to connect families to community events and supports within the region
  • Provide information and connect families with regional medical, therapeutic, and advocacy support services
  • Provide parent to parent support to cope with the challenging experience and feelings
  • Assist parents with understanding the components of the IFSP
  • Attend home visits, school visits, or other communication activities and supports as parent desires
  • Meet regularly with Operations Manager to assure needs of assigned parents are met and the caseload assigned is manageable and appropriate
  • Complete time keeping activities
  • Completes designated AC training and compliance requirements as assigned
  • Upholds Anne Carlsen Center’s ethical standards and demonstrate the behavioral and service expectations as defined in our policies and procedures.
